To be a Clerick
It has been recently been shown to me that my eyes must have been closed for a while, and one very quality movie slipped by my intense radar systems. Its name is Equilibrium and it rules.
It was first explained to me that it was a mix between 1984 and the Matrix, and that could be the best interpretation I have heard. It does not have the biggest budget or the best editing job, but the story, even being quite unbelievable still is very entertaining.
It doesn't have a bunch of monkeys acting either, (even though that may be funny) but
has two fairly accomplished main actors in Christian Bale and Emily Watson. They put on a good show, being able to show no emotion... must be hard work. The fight scenes are pretty amazing and you can't complain with a style of Kung Fu that incorporates hand guns. Its minimalist style of sets with white walls and starched plain clothing really gives the feeling of an oppressed society.
Now, there are always a few things that you can pick apart a movie for, but I decided to look at it for what it was. Suspending my belief that all of this just happened and realize that it is all entertainment for me, and oddly enough I didn't even pay for it. That's right... we downloaded it from the internet... but I don't care because I have already decided to find it somewhere and buy it so that it can sit on my shelf with the other movies that I give praise to. Being who I am, that should leave it between Dead Presidents and E.T.
So go out and rent, buy or steal this movie right now. It will be worth your time and if not, it will at least waste a little more of our lives and leave us with something to talk about.
